Watching Beyonwiz V2 TS Files on another TV
Hi All,
We are loving the Beyonwiz V2 and its ability to record to the NAS where we store our other media. We currently use a WD TV Live in another room to watch our other media and want to be able to watch the recorded content now also but the WD TV Live struggles with the TS file format.
I did read there was a WizTV Dongle at some point in the past but I cant seem to find much detail about them...
What do others use to watch the TS files on other TV's?
Thanks
David

You could try re-muxing the recordings to mp4 or mkv containers for better device compatibility. I am surprised the WDTV has trouble though. Are there any updates available for it?
See Adoxa's little addon here:
viewtopic.php?f=47&t=12458&hilit=mp4+mkv#p183367
You'll need to make sure ffmpeg is installed as well.
The process takes a minute or two per recording (depending on length and storage speed).
The remuxed file will be compatible with a wider range of devices, but if you delete the .ts file, then the Wiz will lose all the extra info such as program description and the like.
I probably wouldn't recommend the Wiz TV dongle. It's an "Android mobile" device and a bit fidgety to use.

The WD TV was discontinued in August 2016 so updates are probably not available. You could try wrapping a TS file in a MKV container using MKVToolNix and giving it a try or converting a TS file to MP4 https://www.videohelp.com/software/MkvToMp4 or with ffmpeg
ffmpeg -i input.ts -acodec copy -vcodec copy out.mp4
ffmpeg -i input.ts -acodec copy -vcodec copy out.mp4

Topic moved from Skins - because it's not related to UI skins.

I've tried some cheap Android media players which work but I still think the BW skips videos best. Don't know if it's the hardware or software.
Re: Watching Beyonwiz V2 TS Files on another TV
The Beyonwiz has the advantage of having index metadata files for the videos to make it easier to skip. Other media players don't read the recorded index files and have to do their own guessing.

No problem. It's easy to do, and easy to fix.
