T2 lost network connectivity to NAS after 19.3 Upg

Post by exitguy » Sun Nov 03, 2019 10:26

Just found this out as I was wanting to play something stored on the NAS, T2 was running 17.5 and all was OK with networking.

Upgraded to 19.3 via USB & setup to use the Beta feed as usual, have done all the online upgrades since then as well.

Yesterday (Sat) went through the menu to get to the NAS and nothing was there in the sources, so went through the process of setting network shares again. Scanned network, found all the connected devices including NAS but when you hit OK to Expand the NAS spinning wheel appears for a little while then goes away, but nothing shows, other devices can be expanded without issue.
Desktop (W8.1) + Laptop (W10) + Sony Bravia (AndroidTV + Kodi) all see the NAS and can expand folders without a problem.

Any Ideas from the audience ??? I have a copy of the latest firmware on USB so can do a USB update if that may be a potential fix.
Backup - USB Update - Restore - See if can setup network shares again

Your NAS may not support SMB v2 protocol.

You might need to remove the vers=2.1 option from the Mount configuration screen on the WIz.

You hit the nail on the head, just remembered that I had to "downgrade" Kodi to SMB1 as it couldn't connect to the NAS with SMB2 or SMB3

So, where on the Wiz menu system do I find which SMB version to use, I went through all the menus I could but didn't see anything.

The 'Mount options' field in the mount shown in Mountpoints management/Mount Viewer.

You need to perform the network scan, then create a mount point by opening one of the PC entries and selecting one of the shares. The mount options will be in that screen.

It looks like you haven't created a mount yet if there are none to manage.

In order to have anything in the Mountpoint Manager screen, you have to have some configured mountpoints. If you do the Network Browser scan and then select one of the file share servers, it should expand to a list of shares available from the server. If you select one of those shares, you'll get the screen to configure the share mount on the Beyonwiz.

Do all the configuration changes you want to do (e.g. changing the local share name) and also remove the ", ver=2.1" from the Mount options entry. If you do that at this point, the Beyonwiz should use SMB version 1 when it creates the mount.

Got it - unit is off now so I'll do as you suggested tomorrow (Mon) and reply back as to results - thanks for the assistance.

Even better, fix your NAS to support SMB2.1 or later.
