V2 Firmware Upgrade problem - Display Mode
V2 Firmware Upgrade problem - Display Mode
Hi,
I have followed the procedure to upgrade the V2 firmware from the USB stick. The problem is that when I reboot into the upgrade mode (displayed on the front panel) I lose the display on the TV, I have tried pressing "TVOut" but nothing shows.
I have changed the setting to "Auto HDMI" but it made no difference.

Try a different tv. The one you are using sounds like it is having difficulty with the default resolution (probably 576i? Imported TVs might have terrible with that).
Failing that if have to run a funny run myself to remember the key sequence . If I was to guess, you press down and OK, then probably OK one more to start the upgrade..........I wouldn't trust me on that though

Re: V2 Firmware Upgrade problem - Display Mode
I'd try temporarily connecting a computer monitor to the V2.

Ahh yep. I was thinking of the newer bootloader on my OpenATV box. That's the only one I have upgraded in recent memoryGrumpy_Geoff wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 12:14prl lists the upgrade selection list as (taken from this forum post) -

Re: V2 Firmware Upgrade problem - Display Mode
Hi,
Yes, the problem was the old Samsung TV, when I connected a monitor I could read the update menu.
Obviously once in "update" mode the "TVOut" doesn't change the display modes, when I power the V2 on normally I have to use the "Tvout" to select the required mode.
Thanks for the help, the update went through OK.

Re: V2 Firmware Upgrade problem - Display Mode
Do you have to re-set the Video mode every time you turn on?
That shouldn't be necessary. Once you have manually set the required resolution in the main menu, the setting should stick.
The only reason I can think of that the setting wouldn't stick would be if the settings aren't being saved properly. If you perform a restart or an orderly shutdown, then the settings should be flushed to disk. If instead, the V2 is being turned off by cutting its power (very bad), then settings may not be saved correctly.
