T2 Playback pixelating
Hi
I just purchased a T2 to replace a P1. I also have a T3 and H1.
What I've found is that video playback on the T2 (x264 mp4 files) are often pixelating ie going blocky at various times.
I can play the same file on the T3 and the H1 without this pixelating.
Given the T2 has more processing power than the T3 and H1, I'm wondering if there is some setting I can modify.
The T2 plays back on a plasma. Is set to 1080p.
The T3 plays back on a projector.
Video files are located on a NAS
Thanks
Michael

Re: T2 Playback pixelating
The T2 and T4 use a newer version of the Linux kernel than the T3. This newer version has a performance regression for SMB mounted drives, which could cause breakups on high bitrate footage. There are two things you can do:
1) Use NFS shares from your NAS instead of SMB/CIFS.
2) Wait for the next beta release. I have a fix for the performance issues that will be included in the next beta.

Many thanks Peter. Great to know there is a fix. Just fyi, the videos were 720p with minimum 1500 Kbps bit rate.peteru wrote:The T2 and T4 use a newer version of the Linux kernel than the T3. I'll try the NFS shares first.
Any idea when the new f/w will be available?

Re: T2 Playback pixelating
Just checking, but my T2 has 4.4 20150624 installed on it.peteru wrote: 2) Wait for the next beta release. I have a fix for the performance issues that will be included in the next beta.
So does the fix you are referring to going to be on the next version? (looking in Beta forum, 20150624 seems to be the latest)
I have changed the network shares to NFS. This has fixed about 95+% of the pixelating. A big improvement, but I hope the f/w update fixes it completely
