I've been able to pin down some remote codes that will start the T3 out of shutdown.
They are:
Beyonwiz BR-01 remote codes (codes for all DP series except DP-P2)
POWEROFF
Yamaha RX-530 AM/FM receiver
POWERTOGGLE
POWERON
POWEROFF
Of those, the one most likely to cause problems is the discrete POWEROFF for the non-DPP2 DP series, if you use in in an activity-based remote like the Harmony series.
With peteru's help I've been able to supply him with the actual IR codes causing the problem.
