Audio delay functions not working

The audio delay functions do not work. There is no change in lip sync when a delay is set via the setup menu.

Press Menu→ setup→system→AV Settings→AV Settings→General AC3 / PCM delay.

Equally, the Audio sync function on the audio pop-up menu has no effect.

Press 'audio';
Press blue button (audio sync)
Select either Service or Global
Adjust for a positive or negative delay
Press green to save & exit.
Return to live TV.

On my machine there is no change in the audio delay. When peteru replied to my post on T3 General Topics - see t=8938 above - peteru reported no delay (negative) or a loss of sound (positive).
