As per the subject. The TV itself has no problem. Same aerial connection.
Any idea's. I've rescanned several times.

How are the TV and Beyonwiz respectively connected to the antenna?

Is the problem a recent change, i.e. have you been able to scan SBS Hobart on the Beyonwiz before?

SBS Hobart is on 177.5 MHz, which is channel 6. Try a manual scan of that channel.

If it doesn't work I'd swap the TV leadin cable to the Wiz and try again.

This kind of problem could be due to a faulty leadin cable. In my experience, if the shield is faulty it can cause one or two stations to disappear while others are unaffected.

Thanks Paul. I'll give it a try. Bit of an issue as all the cabling is behind a massive wall unit in a separate room. It's a very recent issue. IceTV records Rockwiz for me & has just started reporting errors. I have also had to re-load the firmware twice to get the unit to respond. Power cycling didn't work.

Just tried a manual scan of 177.5 Ch6 & no services found.
Swapped antenna lead in with another lead in that allows SBS on a piddly Kogan TV but no different & the suspect lead works perfectly on the Kogan.

Anyone got any more thoughts?

Would the problem be that my nearest & ususl signal source is Launceston & this isn't an option.
Channel:
34
Frequency:
571.5MHz

Full Scan seems to have solved my issues. Thanks everyone.

Quite likely. The pre-set scan regions are for the 16 most populous urban areas in Australia. Hobart makes the cut, but Launceston doesn't (Wikipedia lists it as 21st).

If you're not in a named region, you should use Australia - Full Scan.

The entries in the region list is in order of the size of population at the time that I wrote the scripts that generate the table, so that the largest number of people can use entries near the top of the list.

However, I'm a bit puzzled why a scan using the Hobart region (if that is what was done) failed to find SBS in Launceston. The Hobart scan covers the transmitters on Mt Wellington (main transmitter), and at Acton, Opossum Bay and Risdon. A scan in Launceston for frequencies from the Acton transmitter should have picked up:
SBS 571.5 MHz
ABC 578.5 MHz
Seven 585.5 MHz
Ten 592.5 MHz

It should have failed to pick up:
WIN 620.5 MHz

That's all coincidence, though - the assignment of broadcasters to channels is different between Acton and Launceston (but the scan code doesn't care about that).

It's all a bit unclear to me because I can't work out for sure what scan actually failed to find SBS in Launceston.

Anyway, the scan regions are really intended to be used only for the region they name. They include "fill-in" transmitters where appropriate (as in the Hobart scan), but you can't just say "there isn't a region defined for me, I'll just use the closest one". It just doesn't work like that.

If the regions list doesn't contain where you live, use the Australia - Full Scan selection. It even says so in the Fine Manual (apart from the T3 manual which predates the scan region table).

The topic title is a bit misleading, too. It led some posters to assume that the scan was being done in Hobart, when it wasn't.

Glad it's fixed.

You should make a backup so that you can restore the settings should they go missing ever again. If you ever use a backup, you will need to tell IceTV to resend all timers if it's not recent.

Menu >>Setup >> Software manager >> Create backup.

And yes, manually scanning the Hobart service may not find the Launceston service on a different frequency. As prl explains, under the hood, the workings of a location scan are quite esoteric.

However, a manual scan of channel 34 should find it. But in cases like yours, a full scan is a good option.

Thanks all. I'm a little wiser.
