Positive audio delay quirk

Post by Paul_oz53 » Sat Mar 17, 2018 11:54

I noticed a lip sync issue with HDMI IN playing Foxtel live so I began to experiment.

I know the audio sync plugin has been removed as it was ineffective. However, two general settings remain in the AV settings menu item for AC3 & PCM so I tried both positive and negative values.

The quirk is setting either to a positive value kills PCM sound on all PCM sound channels when you change channels. Setting AC3 to a positive value kills all sound on changing channels. Negative values do not have this, or any, effect.

To confirm:
  1. Menu-Setup-AV setup-AV settings.
  2. Set the general delay for AC3 to any positive value.
  3. Save and exit the menu to live tv.
  4. Change channels - sound dissappears
  5. Try other channels - no sound.
  6. Menu-Setup-AV setup-AV settings
  7. Reset AC3 delay to zero or negative.
  8. Save and exit to live tv.
  9. Change channels - sound reappears.
Repeat for PCM.

I suggest that these two options either be removed, amended to prevent positive values or flagged as ineffective.

Cheers, Paul
