19.3 Firmware - cant see Synology NAS

I just upgraded my U4 firmware to 19.3 and have followed the instructions below to allow it to see my NAS.

I get the message that
Directory '/media/autofs/synology_movies/' does not exist.
My U4 was able to see the Synology NAS 5 minutes before when I have the old 17.5 firmware.

What could be wrong?

These are the settings on the Mount Editor:
Mount Using: AUTOFS (mount as needed)
Active: Active
Local Share Name: synology_movies
Mount Type: CIFS Share
Server IP: 192.168.1.x
Server Share: movies
Use as HDD Replacement: No
Mount options: rw,utf8,vers=2.1
Username: correct
Password: correct

To get to your NAS share, or a PC share, firdt browse for network shares to mount - MENU>>Setup>>Network>>Network browser.
Wait for the network search to complete. Select your server, provide user/password if needed (Windows shares nearly always requires it), the server should expand and available shares should then be shown (if it doesn't expand, select it, OK).
Select the server share to be mounted>>OK. Another chance at password, then the Mounts editor screen is presented with mount details populated.
At this point in time, don't change 'Local share name'. Press GREEN/Save, reply yes to save mount. You'll get a first popup, then press OK on the second popup (don't press EXIT). That should be it.
Exit back to live TV.

Hi serpeantoz,

Probably your NAS is running on a lesser version of samba than 2.1. If you delete the", vers=2.1" it will probably work. The default setting in 19.3 is good for newer systems but older systems may need to be updated to run samba 2.1.

Yes, that worked!

Thank you.

I had a quick Google and I couldn't work out how to upgrade the Samba version of my Synology 918+. Is this something I can upgrade or is it part of the DSM 6.2.2 O/S and can't be user upgraded?

Go to File Services - SMB - Advanced Settings - in there you can set the Minimum & Maximum SMB levels that will be attributed to the unit

p.s. Got a DS218 Fri and have been playing around with it - so have been through DSM a few times and learning something new each time.

I can set it to Maximum SMB3.

I wonder if that would fix my problem?

Well, I've already fixed it by removing the ,ver2.1 but wonder if this is another fix?

If you're security conscious, uprating the Nas to at least version 2.1 is advisable. Just match the u4 to the same version to be consistent.

I find that easier than using different values, even though they are permissible.

I left mine at SMB1 & SMB2 - T2 had not trouble finding it, letting me log in and adding to network mounts - when I checked the details in the Mount Manager it showed as 2.1, so all good

The default SMB settings for Synology NAS seem to be dated, with min 1 and max 2; changing to 2.1 and 3 solved several problems here.

Same here, Min 2 Max 3 = better security which we all want.
