Re: Series2Folder
And how does the Show contents screen that you see for the Series2Folder installer compare with the image I posted?

Re: Series2Folder
That's exactly what I see but which ever one I click on it says installing plugin on the top right hand side of the screen and underneath on the left hand side of the screen it reads
Execution progress :
Execution finished !
but that's it that's all it does.

Re: Series2Folder
When you posted the images of what happens when you try to install Series2Folder, it looked like the drive it was on was formatted as NTFS. I suggested that if it is, you might try to using one formatted as FAT instead - that's a long shot, but perhaps worth trying.
You could also try downloading a fresh copy of the installer.

Re: Series2Folder
It might be, but the Console window that the installation happens in shows both stdout and stderr, so I'm not sure.
Perhaps we are getting into "reload firmware from USB" territory.

I agree with prl, time to back up the settings, install the firmware from USB, and restore settings.
If Paul_oz53 was posting on this, he'd have suggested that ages ago

terry,
You're unzipping the downloaded file, right?
Peter - your repo doesn't have 1.10 as an extracted download.
No. But from the screenshots that terry posted, he's trying to install the .ipk file. And anyway, the interface to opkg via FileCommander only allows you to install a .ipk file, not a .zip.

Re: Series2Folder
What firmware version do you want to load, the same ancient 20191106 (but still the latest) General Release version you have on it now, or the smack bang up-to-date 20210901 beta version (bearing in mind you're running a beta version on your U4, although an old one mind you)?
Re: Series2Folder
I'll go with the beta one how do I do it please?

Re: Series2Folder
Download the 20210901 beta firmware USB zip file from this topic - viewtopic.php?f=56&t=14863.
Extract and copy it to USB and flash it to the V2 as instructed here - viewtopic.php?f=67&t=13361#p186513
(ignore point 1 in the instructions that tell you to download the current production firmware).
Don't bother running the "switch online update feed to beta" script unless your Wiz is connected to your home network.
Re: Series2Folder
I did the firmware upgrade it worked the series2folder is there but the option series2folder... isn't there.

Re: Series2Folder
After a USB update you have to reinstall S2F and restart the GUI or reboot.

Re: Series2Folder
That means it's installed. Only installed plugins are in the Remove plugins list.
Only uninstalled plugins that are in the online update feeds are listed in the Install plugins list. Series2Folder isn't in the online feeds, so it will never appear in Install plugins.
The big question is: if you restart the V2 after installing Series2Folder, do the three Series2Folder menu items appear whenin the menu when you do MEDIA, navigate to a recording or media file, MENU?

Re: Series2Folder
Thank you sooooo much I did forget to reboot I have now done it and it is all there thanks again for all your help and patience it appears the beta firmware fixed the problem.
while I have got everybodies attention I have another v2 and a u4 which are close to each other how do I stop the one remote from operating both units at the same time?

Re: Series2Folder
I think that it was simply loading a new copy of the firmware, not the particular version, that fixed the problem. After all:
The V2 and the default U4 remote codes are the same. The V2 remote code set can't be changed, and the V2 can't be set to respond to a different code set, but the U4 remote and the U4 itself can be.

Re: Series2Folder
I see prl has beaten me to it whilst I was typing this up. I'll post anyway in case it makes it clearer for terry.
As far as I know -
The V2 unit and remote both operate on a fixed 0xAE97 code set.
The U4 remote can send 0xAE97 (default) and 0x02F3 (U4/T2/T4)
The U4 unit can operate on 0xAE97, 0x02F3, 0x02F2 (T2/T4), 0x02F4 (T2/T4), 0xABCD (T3)
So you'd need to set the U4 unit and U4 remote to both operate on 0x02F3.
See "How to change remote code sets for STB on U4 remote?" here
Remote - steps 2-4, change it to the "801" code
Unit - step 1 & 5
Since you have the V2 remote as well, I'd change the U4 remote first.
Then use the V2 remote to change the U4 to receive the 0x02F3 code set and OK the "yes" prompt.
Remember though, when firmware updating the U4 from USB, it will then use the native 0xAE97 code set, so you'll need to use the V2 remote to change the U4 unit back to the 0x02F3 code set.
