DP-P2 Tuner Problem

Hi all,

I know they are getting to be a bit of an old unit (mine was 2008) but we have just recently had a problem with one of the tuners in our DP-P2. I will describe the symptoms :

With no recordings taking place, the reception is terrible (unable to watch).

With one recording(eg ABC), the reception on that channel (or group of channels) is terrible, but on other channels (eg CH9) it is clear as before.

When it using the DP-P2, the TV reception is perfectly clear. (ie using the pass through of the DP-P2 to deliver reception to the TV).

So I suspect that one of the tuners has failed.

My questions are :

Is there 'primary' and 'secondary' tuner? And if so, is it possible to swap them over (either through software/logic fix) or opening it up and swapping it over?

Is it possible to repair/replace just one tuner in these units nowadays?

Am I better throwing it in the bin?

Can anyone think of a way to fool the unit into disabling the primary tuner?
