Foxtel IQ 2
Foxtel IQ 2
Has anybody successfully used this remote to control Foxtel IQ 2...???
Re: Foxtel IQ 2
I don't know if it has the IQ in it's database of devices, but you can teach it the codes from your existing IQ remote.dhromow wrote:Has anybody successfully used this remote to control Foxtel IQ 2...???

Is the Foxtel an RF remote? If it is, you can't get the AP-E1 to learn from it.dhromow wrote:I have had no trouble "teaching" this remote for any other device except Foxtel... I could not get it to "learn" the original Foxtel remote either. I have tried on "DVD" "AC" and "CD" setting but to no avail... Ah well 2 remotes are better than 6...!!!

Then it's an IR, not an RF remote.dhromow wrote:I don't know. How can you tell...??? I do know that my Harmony 525 can work the IQ box with no problems...
Have you tried teaching the AP-E1 from the Harmony device, rather than the original remote? There's probably no good reason why it should make a difference, but I guess it's worth a try.

Try teaching it just one button, try the power button.
There are different methods of teaching remotes for difficult to learn (or to teach) remotes.
Make sure there are no flouro light son in the room. And no other devices that can interfere with IR signals (like some chinese LCD TVs).
Place both remotes on a flat table pointing at each other.
Try teaching the code with the remotes:
- only a few cm apart
- 150 cm apart
Try the following in combination with the above:
- pressing the button quickly on the IQ remote
- pressing and momentarily holding the button on the IQ remote
- holding a book between the remotes, press and hold the button on the IQ remote, and quickly remove the book
If all else fails - like you said - 2 remotes are better than 6...
