There is a whole forum dedicated to the remote where you can read about it and make up your own mind: http://www.beyonwiz.com.au/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=20
I would prefer to reserve my opinion on this item, as I got it as a gift so can't complain too much. I have an MX500 Home Theatre Master remote which is a great remote to use, and fully customisable macros etc. And by the time it shipped here from the US (and we had a lousy exchange rate at the time) it was still considereably less than $200.
The Wiz remote is a good 2nd learning remote to have around the house, but it would annoy me as a primary remote.

Hi Wyatt,
Welcome!

Welcome!
I assume that have provided all the appropriate information to Beyonwiz to support your claim. I suggest that you give Beyonwiz Australia a call during work hours to confirm the current status of your remote.wyatt wrote:Has anybody received their freebie yet for buying a BW in December? I'm still waiting.

Good luck trying to get someone to answer your call.
I have tried on several occasions without success. As a customer it makes you think twice before you purchase a box.

If you are chasing your freebie remote do NOT press 1 when you get to the prompt.ducky wrote:Good luck trying to get someone to answer your call.

1000% markup - makes you wonder how much everything else is really worth doesn't it.
They probably just about made money off the $18 postage! I feel sorry for anyone that got suckered into paying $199 + postage for this.
The unit is poor for the simple fact that it doesn't control anything very well at all. It takes several presses of a button and an absolute perfect line of sight to do anything where as every other remote is much more 'forgiving'. If you haven't got this for free (and even if you have) look elsewhere, this offering is piss-poor.

I wouldnt say piss poor, it is still good if you only had to pay $18 for it. It suits my situation perfectly (TV, DVD and BW) but if I had anymore I wouldn't even consider it as the codes supplied are usually that bad you have to learn all of the remote functions anyway (I certainly had to for my TV and DVD).diem wrote:1000% markup - makes you wonder how much everything else is really worth doesn't it.

My remote works first time every time for me, maybe I was one of the lucky ones.

Mine does to. i can point mine in the opposite direction and whatever I'm trying to control responds to the button presses.Super_Roo wrote:My remote works first time every time for me
It's light, comfortable, has enough buttons to control everything except an S1. It's better built than some popular universial remotes. The remote is perfect if have remote controlled air-con. As a programable remote the only thing it really lacks is decent macros.

Yeah, doesn't work with my Panasonic Inverter. My friend bought a split system quite cheap too, because the store lost the remote for it, and when he went to buy a remote from the manufacturer, they quoted $250! Because apparently the remote has temp and all sorts of stuff it sends to the main unit.

Nope. Only an RC controlled fan+light. Well I do have A/C, and a remote controlled A/C unit, but not in the room where the remote is used.peteru wrote:Do you?Dave? wrote:The remote is perfect if have remote controlled air-con.
Looking at the display on the remote, and the screen printing around the buttons, it appears as if it's primary purpose is to control A/C. 2/3rds of the display are devoted to A/C. But after checking the manual I notice that only 7 of the 30 usable buttons are pre-programmed for A/C use.
