Do not seem to be able to back up my U4 Settings.
Hi,
I seem to be having trouble Backing up my u4's settings. I am getting an error when I try and response I am getting is gibberish to me.
I hope it means something to some body here. I will attach a screen shot of response I get.
Thanks in advance
Iain

It looks like it is trying to backup your settings to a USB device, and that USB device is either full or otherwise write-protected.
Have you changed the default backup location away from the U4's internal HDD?

Re: Do not seem to be able to back up my U4 Settings.
Ok thanks for prompt reply. Please bear with me as communicating this way is difficult for me.
I do have an external hard drive but Normally have it switched of but to test what you said I turned it on and tried to backup and got the same message or at least similar I now have an internal 8 TB SSD and would like to set U4 to backup to it. I had a look at the settings for backup and could not make any real sense of it.
Could you talk me through setting U4 to backup to SSD please?
Let me know if you need any more info or screen shots.
thanks
Iain

Re: Do not seem to be able to back up my U4 Settings.
I assume that the SSD is already set up as a functioning HDD, and your recordings and timeshifting is working as expected.
You'll want to make sure that the new SSD is configured as the default backup location.
From a live TV view, press:
MENU->Setup->Plugins->Plugin browser
Scroll down to the plugin called "Software management" and press OK.
Select "Advanced options"
Select the option called "Select backup location"
You should be able to choose the "U4 (Internal HDD" as the preferred option.
This will set the backup location to your U4's internal drive.

Re: Do not seem to be able to back up my U4 Settings.
Thank you MrQuade, wow there was more to that then I was expecting and I probably never would have figured that out on my own. For starters I was looking in the wrong place.
Not sure if inline attachment worked, but that is where i was looking.
That appears to be asking what to back up. Do i need worry about this? All I really need to back up are my timers and auto timers and probably some system stuff I cant think of at the moment. does it have like a default setting of what to back up?
Once again thank you for help and by the way backups appear to be working now.

Definitely don't mess with the "What to backup" list that is shown (that's exactly what it is btw, and yes, you'd normally expect the "where to backup" setting to live there too.....chalk it up to a complicated design).
You can get yourself into a world of hurt if you end up backing up the wrong things
