In Quick Links, these links dom't work, as they result in "The specified search backend doesn’t exist." -
'Your posts', New Posts', 'Unread posts', 'Unanswered topics', 'Active topics'.

'Your posts', New Posts', 'Unread posts', 'Unanswered topics', 'Active topics'.
Now hidden under Quick Links pulldown is less than desirable.

On the mobile version, the count of "Notifications" and "Private Messages" at the top of the screen remains visible and in red, even when the count is 0.

Looking nice otherwise :)

The restriction on searching for commonly-used terms, like "recording", "remote" or "timeshift" seems to have been lifted.

This will make searching much easier than when searches on these terms were previously either refused (when it was the only term) or dropped from the search when there were qualifying terms, which often made nonsense of the search.

Be nicer if they put the Quicklinks at the bottom of the page also, then you wouldn't have to select back to top to go to the next Quick Links :)

Hmmmm...

blocks that actually work might be a good thing, too:
one line
next line
Formats as:

Code: Select all

one line
next line
That's not what's supposed to happen! Line breaks are supposed to be preserved in code blocks. It loks as though all the code block does is to use teletype font.

In the formatting buttons (B I U, etc) in the "post" screen, the "you" text of "youtube" is active, but the "tube" part is not.

If you click on "you" you get in the text entry box, but if you clock on "tube", nothing happens.

The fix for this seems pretty simple. Just delete line 589 of content.css

That is, remove "white-space: normal;" from the ".codebox code" style block.

And while at it, also delete the "max-height" line, so that quoted code actually remains visible.

I updated the Beyonwiz style at userstyles.org to deal with the current code formatting bug.

If you use Stylish with Firefox or Chrome, it should be as simple as clicking the "Find styles for this site..." button in the extension menu.

Thanks for this, Peter.

Is it possible to adjust the style so there is a bit of white left on either side?

At the moment it makes the text, etc fill the entire width, which needed adjustment from all the wasted white space but still needs some.

Looked at the code and wasn't sure which bit to edit.

Sure, it's possible. But how long is a piece of string? I'll play around with it for a bit...

I made the piece of string 128em long.

Install the updated style and see how you go. If it goes too wide in full-screen, you may want to change the value to 100em. The final dimension will depend on the font you have selected in your browser. If you want to go by the pixel, change the dimension to something like 1246px or whatever suits your setup.

Thanks Peter that's a good width for a piece of string. :D

I'm not seeing that, with about the 6 or 7 searches I just tried.

Have you got more exact steps to reproduce the problem?

I just checked it.
one line
next line
Still formats as:

Code: Select all

one line
next line
Also, after formatting blocks like

and

all whitespace is absorbed. There doesn't seem to be a way to put a blank line between the block and the text that follows it.

Hi Peter

I'm not getting either of those problems with the style installed

Code: Select all

one line
next line

Looks fine with a newline inbetween them and I just added some blank lines before this sentence which works okay as well.

Sure. In the 'Search this topic' field, enter a string to search in this topic only and then search.

Topic_search.png

Or try this link -
search.php?keywords=formatting&t=11127&sf=msgonly
I believe the issue stems from 'Message text only' (msgonly), because if the topic search is changed to 'Post subjects and message text' (all) there's no error -
search.php?keywords=formatting&t=11127&sf=all

I'm having a weird display issue also, I don't know how to correct the display of forum location. I'm just seeing the first few letters of each forum grouping as per the pic below:

In the pic in the previous post by Grumpy Geoff I can see that the forum path is correct in his screen shot.

I'm seeing them all on one line still. Firefox 53.0 for OS X.

Spacing after formatted blocks needs two blank lines after the block to add spacing. Before, all that was needed for some space was for the text not to be on the same line as the closing tag.

Using Firefox 53.0 on Windows 10 here with the Stylish add-on and the style Peter created.

As for spacing I can see it now - I needed the 2 blank lines otherwise with 1 or none it sat straight under the box.

OK, I've installed peteru's style fixes using Styish, and code blocks look good now.

But presumably that means that except for the 5 people who have loaded the fixes, code blocks are still broken?

I expect so.

I agree it would be best if we had the style incorporated in the forum software by default so everyone got the benefits.

I updated the Stylish user style. At this stage it's the best option, while we wait for Wiz HQ to get the server side fixed.

Perhaps we can make use of the new "Newly Registered Users Group" feature to curtail spammer arseholes like Curtisnar this morning.

He's been dealt with. 35+ spam posts.

But a good idea.

Think Curtisnar may have uncovered a bug in the forum software. Their posts have been deleted, but they still show as the "Last Post" listed at the Board level.

For example, in the "T-Series Official Firmware Images" sub-board, Curtisnar is still listed as having made the last post in the "Dreamplex not working with 16.1 major upgrade" thread.

It looks like some of the indexes may not have been correctly updated. Hopefully this will not cascade to a forum failure. If there is an integrity check or database verify option it may be well worth a run.

Ian.

Moderators can hide posts, only an Administrator can truly delete a post.

AFAIK I can delete posts rather than hide them.

Well... the button says "Delete". What it does may be slightly different.

The width of the Beyonwiz header is creating blank space on narrow phone screens where the 'z' hangs over. This allows you to scroll right a little bit cutting off the left of the view. Very easy to do when scrolling up and down and a bit of a pain having to manually recentre constantly.

Can the Beyonwiz header be scaled to fit its blue background?

I'm seeing similar things in the default browser "Internet" on Android Samsung Galaxy S4.
