Re: If I can't buy a new Beyonwiz, then what *should* I buy?

My brother's Wiz (my old DP-S1) died recently. His needs for viewing and recording TV are minimal, so we finally decided on a TEAC HDB860. Single tuner. USB recording. It's not fancy, but it suits his minimal needs nicely for less than $50. He seems to be happy with it. As for me - when my Wiz inevi...

Fixed the errors/omissions pointed out by MrQuade & peteru.

I think that the V2 is pretty much "a better T2".

And "a worse U4".

Why is hardware sophistication going backward?

The good news is that with an external brick PSU, we don't have the same crises as we did when the internal PSU of older models inevitably died.

The brick PSU was A Very Good Idea by the Wizmasters.

U4 - One tuner down

Since my U4 arrived and I set it up, I had a nagging suspicion that one tuner wasn't working but I never got around to a rigorous test. But it did seem that my number of concurrent recordings maxed out too soon. Last night I accidentally pressed the (?) button on the U4 remote. It showed some very i...

[Tugs grey beard. Sighs nostalgically.] I remember the old days when Wizzes had horse-drawn hard disks and one TV tuner made of wood. Firmware updates have been coming in for the U4 but I can't find a changelog anywhere in the forums or Wiz site.
The last mention of a firmware changelog in the forum was for the T4 in 2016.

I'd like to know what has been tweaked.
